Jack the Juicer

Jack loves sliced apples for a snack. However, he doesn't eat them like most people. He likes to chew up each slice into small bits, extract the yummy juice in his mouth, and then gently deposit the apple bits on his bib, pants, or high chair. It is the same story everyday. Here are some pictures of an apple juicing episode and the aftermath.

Example of a Big Boy Lunch

Today for lunch Jack had cheese sandwhich, green peas, and strawberries. Jack liked the cheese sandwhich and peas. He gives two thumbs down to strawberries and made the worst pucker face everytime he put one in his mouth. We'll keep trying.

Jack and his guys

Jack went to Adam's playdate today. It was a lot of fun and we even got to play outside....Jack's favorite! Since Jack started walking he seems to be interacting with his friends a lot more at the playdates. He can finally keep up. Today he decided it would be fun to push Walter around on the fire truck. Go Jack!

Jack's Acting Debut

Jack starred in his first movie today. It is an action packed film called "Jack Saves Monkey" and he did all of his own stunts. Kerrie was the stunt coordinator and it was directed and produced by Arthur. Jack is such a nice guy, he is letting everyone see it for free right here on his blog. Enjoy.

Rhett's birthday at Little Gym

Jack was invited to his buddy, Rhett's, birthday at the Little Gym. It was a blast and we had lots of fun. Jack got to play on all the mats and the balance beam. He also played with a huge parachute. All the moms and dads flapped the parachute up and down so the kids could run underneath. Right before birthday cake time we got to play in the bubbles. Jack had a great time helping Rhett celebrate his first birthday.... especially when the Elmo birthday cake arrived. Jack loved the fruit punch juice box and yummy b-day cake. We managed to eat the cake without incident but the juice box was kind of a mess. Even the little kid sitting next to Jack got sprayed with fruit punch from the juice box. Jack has mastered smashing the juice box and spraying his buddy!

Naked Baby!

Arthur decided to let Jack run around for a few minutes before bath time wearing only his sweatshirt on his head. He is so cute with his naked little buns!

Playland

Jack tried out the chick-fil-a playland today after lunch. He is doing so much better with finger foods and drinking from a straw. Jack loves spaghetti, chicken fingers, baked squash and granola bars. It is a huge improvement from last month.

1 YEAR OLD

Jack went for his 1 year well exam today at Dr. Schafer's office. He is 30 1/2 inches long and a little over 21 pounds. The doctor described Jack as "tall and skinny". He said Jack is doing great and right on track!
Jack's vocabulary is pretty limited. He will say "Aay" when he drops something (usually on purpose). I'm sure it is his way of saying "Oh no". He calls Frank "Tay" and pretty much everything else is refered to as "Dough". It kinda sounds like Homer Simpson taught him talking 101! His best word is "Hiiiii" (said with a heavy southern drawl) which is usually accompanied by a wave. Although his verbal skills are limited we can tell that Jack understands basic things we tell or ask him. I can ask him to push a button and he will or I can tell him to put something inside a bowl/basket and he drops it in.
Jack is very, very ticklish. His sweet spots are around the neck and his lower back. I hear it is a form of torture to tickle but we can't resisit his intoxicating giggle.
Jack is just now warming up to solid food but he really likes green peas. He'll even eat them cold. He likes his breakfast oatmeal with prunes or apples mixed in and will only mash banana slices with his finger. They are apparently in NO way ment to be eaten!
Jack just started walking and it is hilarious to watch him stomp around. He is still a little unsteady but getting there. He was late to sit up but then everything just came fast. He didn't crawl til almost 10months but was taking his first step by late in 11month. He will smile and laugh as he is walking like he is performing physical comedy. It must feel strange coming from crawling on the ground everywhere.
He is a really happy guy and smiles a lot. His smiles are so awesome.

Birthday in Ponca City

Jack had a birthday party on his actual birthday in Ponca City at Grammie and Papa's house. Grammie Jane made Jack a R2D2 cake. She used cake tins that she had from when Arthur was little so it was extra special. Jack's great grandma Smith, grandma Brenda, grandpa George, and uncle George all came to the party. Also, a few friends that Arthur and I went to high school with were in town visiting family and got to come to Jack's birthday. It was a fun day.

Playing in the leaves with dad.

Arthur showed Jack how to play in the leaves at Grammie and Papa's house. It was a really big pile so Jack was in about neck deep. He seemed to like the new game. I am not sure the person who piled the leaves up appreciated though. :)

Testing out the new ski suit

We took Jack down to the lake in his new snow suit at Arthur's parents house in Ponca City, OK. Grammie and Papa bought it for Jack to wear this Feb. when we go skiing in Colorado. We decided that Jack kinda looked like a giant blue marshmallow but he was warm! Grammie and Papa recently had a bunch of trees cut down in their back yard so the view of the lake is great. Also, the view of the newly remodeled house is great from the dock.

Christmas in Ponca City

We spent some of Christmas time at Grammie Jane and Papa's in Ponca City, OK. Jack's cousin, Ellen, was visiting too. They got to wear matching festive pjs for Christmas morning. Grammie Jane and Papa also had lots of neat toys. Jack and Ellen got to try out Rody bouncy animals for the first time. It was a very exciting time!
